Pass this on.
Operation Black March
oh god this is fantastic
I would like to do this
but
but books
Just REBLOG, we can do it.
That’s what I’m gonna do.
Please guys.
Here’s why I can do this and think you can too: Do you really need that song? No. Don’t download it. Listen to it somewhere else, for free. Go to the fucking library and get a book. Or re-read an old one you have. Stay out of the theaters. Watch something you already own. THIS IS DO ABLE. WE CAN DO THIS. WHY THE FUCK CAN’T WE?!
I want ONE good reason we can’t all good this. Come at me bro.
^^^ Very good point ^0^!
CASUALLY REBLOGGING SELF TO ADD HARD MODE TO OPS BLACK MARCH:
BUY NO MERCHANDISE.
As you scream at me Why??!?, I’ll tell you why I believe this will add to the hurtin’; a great percentage of the revenue made by such companies, also extend to merchandise. Toys. Action figures. Movie soundtracks and film scores. Tie-in novels, books, behind-the-scenes guides, . Official, branded merchandise - those Dark of the Moon Transformers toys, that little Smurfs figurine, the entire set of Twilight journals. That bookbag with the Harry Potter logo, those cute little ‘official’ wristbands some character wore in some movie. The ballcaps, the tshirts, the wallets, the shoes. The lightsabers, the graphic novels.
DVDs and CDs aren’t the only source of income for these companies - neither are their products, regardless of whether it is film, game, or song. Each and every single piece of official merchandise sold is another penny in the pocket for them, as they own the licences, and what they sell to intermediary companies is the right to slap those faces and logos onto products that we don’t necessarily need, but want, as they now have a collector’s value on them. I could just as well buy some really pretty journals in a black-red-white theme from my favourite little stationery store for far less than the, say, 25 dollars I’d otherwise fork out to own something ‘from Twilight’. It will still serve the same purpose, so why, really, should I spend more money on something, just for the branding? Ditto my messenger bag, my wallet, my plain white five dollar tshirt.
If we’re not taking crap from these fine establishments, then, in my view, we may as well go the whole hog and give them no revenue, as I refuse to implicitly support their support of internet censorship, and will do so by withdrawing my support from as many avenues as possible. Not only will I not purchase media products, but I will also refuse to purchase branded merchandise.
So if you’re up for OPS BLACK MARCH hardmode - buy no official merchandise, either.
